THE READ: How to Communicate with Your Child’s Teacher 📓🍎😊

Yes, we know, school just started. But curriculum nights are just weeks away, and before you know it, you’ll be scheduling parent-teacher interviews.

With any early opportunity to meet and get to know your child’s teacher, you can set the tone for a productive parent-educator relationship. The way you respond to the teacher’s requests, discuss your child and ask questions will help you to establish a positive home-and-school partnership to help your child have a happy, successful year in the classroom.

Here’s are some quick tips for starting out strong with your child’s new teacher:

Keep an open mind. Don’t let what other parents tell you sway your impressions of your child’s teacher. Treat every new year as a blank slate.

Be sure to show respect for the teacher’s time. If you need to speak to the teacher, book a meeting or a time to chat on the phone. Don’t just show up before or after school.

Communicate in the way the teacher prefers. Some teachers ask that a child’s daily agenda be the main form of communication, for example; others may prefer phone or in-person conversations.

THE CELEBRITY NEWS: Kourtney Kardashian’s Pregnancy 🤰🏻 Complication Hits Home for So Many Parents 💕

All parents-to-be hope for smooth pregnancies free of complications. For those of you who have received scary news about you, your partner or your baby, you can probably relate to Kourtney Kardashian’s Insta post earlier this week.

The ultra-famous media personality, who is expecting her fourth child (her first with husband Travis Barker, the drummer for Blink 182), posted a black-and-white picture of she and her husband holding hands in hospital. “As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies…I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery,” the 44-year-old wrote. “I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling or fear. I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant.”

Thankfully, the surgery was successful: “Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing,” says Kardashian.

Pregnancy complications are frightening, but your medical team will have your back both while you’re pregnant and after delivery. If you’re interested in reading more, check out these stories on parentscanada.com:

THE REEL DEAL:
You Are Your Child’s Favourite Person In the Whole World 🌎 ❤️ 🤗

We spend a lot of time scrolling through parenting social (occupational hazard) and we find a lot of really awesome stuff created by other parents. Like this perfect little reminder that, for 10 years, give or take, you are the sun, the moon and the stars for your kiddos.

Don’t forget that. Even on the days when you don’t feel like you were at your best. Even when you yelled or feel like you said the wrong thing. Even when you fed them cereal for supper because you didn’t have the energy to cook. Even when you feel like you have nothing left to give.

It’s all you. Their number one. Their safe space. And you’re doing a great job.
