From Fajita Pizza to Slow Cooker Chicken Chili—5 New Recipes You Need Right Now

We’re officially in the post-holiday slump, when the sparkle and excitement of the holiday season is in the rearview and it’s back to our regularly scheduled programming. We know it can be a bit of a downer. But we also love the feeling of a fresh new year, with all it has to offer (like something akin to the first day of school!). So, with both things in mind, we went looking for recipes to give you a boost, warm you up from the inside out and offer something new to add to your dinner rotation.

Tap the titles below for each recipe.

THE POLL

Do You Believe in New Year’s Resolutions?

Our editor, Katie, used to love New Year’s resolutions. She would set the same number of resolutions as the year at hand (nine in 2009, 10 in 2010, etc.). Until she had kids. Now, she spends January recovering from the work and stress of the holiday season, and she focuses on small goals, like decluttering a few areas of her house. That’s it. Because she figures life has enough pressure.

But social media doesn’t seem to agree with her. True to form, our feeds are still full of resolution-setting posts, from weight loss to career objectives. And the messages are valid: We should keep learning, growing and trying to make things better for ourselves (right?). But we wonder, at what cost?

We want to know what you think:

THE QUESTION BOX

I Don’t Want to Have a Baby Shower—What Else Can I Do?

Okay, first things first: No one says you have to have a celebration of any kind. If you’re uncomfortable, for any reason, you can just skip the big gathering in favour of smaller, one-on-one meet-and-greets once your little one arrives (though you can skip those, too, if you want! You’re calling the shots).

But if you do want want friends and family to help you mark the occasion of your impending arrival, you can get in on the top 2025 parenting trend, according to Pinterest Predicts:

What’s that, you ask? Here’s the gist: You invite your pals over and divvy up tasks like assembling the crib and folding baby clothes. No joke. Enjoy a meal together (you can just order pizza!), raise a glass to your new addition and call it a day. It’s like the parents-to-be equivalent of asking your friends to help you move. (Seriously, why didn’t we think of this sooner?!)
