5 Festive, Delicious Cookies to Make With Your Kids This Season

Baking with your kids—whether during the holidays or any other time of year—is about so much more than making a sweet treat (though that’s definitely a perk!). It’s about spilled flour, sticky fingers, runaway sprinkles and the kind of memories that can only happen when you’re elbow-deep in dough. These five recipes are simple enough to make with little helpers, and special enough to become new traditions.

Tap each recipe below for details.

Vanilla Crescent Cookies
These melt-in-your-mouth cookies are next level. Kids will love shaping the delicate moons and showering them with icing sugar. They’re subtly sweet, buttery and perfect alongside a cup of hot chocolate.

Sparkling Blizzard Swirl Cookies
The swirl of blue and white make these look like they’re straight out of Elsa’s castle. Rolling the dough together is a hands-on job kids love. A little coloured sanding sugar finishes off a cookie that’s downright magical.

 Chocolate Crackle Cookies
Crispy on the outside. Fudgy on the inside. Oh, and did we mention they’re dusted with icing sugar to make them look they’re topped with snowdrifts? Kids will get a kick out of watching the crackle pattern appear as they spread in the oven.

Classic Gingerbread Cookies
This is the ultimate dough for that cookie cutter collection you barely use. Unleash creativity with accessories galore—think candy buttons, icing squiggles and all the sprinkles you can find.

 Jam Thumbprint Cookies
Who doesn’t love a thumbprint cookie? The buttery cookie makes the perfect base for a jewel-like pop of jam (and kids love making the well in each one!). No wonder they’re a favourite of every generation.

Considering Multigenerational Travel Next Year? You Should Read This

Multigenerational travel is having a moment—and no one knows this better than our grandparenting columnist, Kathy Buckworth. As she reminds us, the joys of family travel don’t end after those so-called “18 summers” with your kids. In fact, once grandkids enter the picture, the adventure starts all over again. Whether you’re travelling with toddlers, teens or three full generations at once, Kathy says the magic lies in thoughtful planning and embracing the beautiful chaos that comes with a bigger crew. THE QUESTION BOX

Why Doesn’t My Partner Feel Loved When I’m Trying So Hard?

Long-term relationships are wonderful…and wonderfully confusing. At least, that’s what our relationship columnists Matt and Carina hear again and again from couples who swear they’re doing everything “right” yet still end up feeling misunderstood or unloved. The truth is, most of us express love one way and receive it another, which is why even the most heartfelt gestures can miss the mark. Matt and Carina break down why this happens in this month’s “The Heart of the Matter,” as well as how to explain what actually makes you feel cared for and what it takes to rebuild connection when your best efforts aren’t landing.
