5 Awesome Breakfast Ideas for Every Day of the Week

We’ve tackled “what’s for dinner?” over the past few weeks, so now let’s talk about breakfast. Lots of kids (especially tweens and teens) turn up their noses at breakfast, for all kinds of reasons, so how do you get them to fill their bellies to fuel their day? Change up what you serve, that’s how. We’re not suggesting you make a full hot breakfast every day—cereal, oatmeal or toast are still great choices—but here five levelled-up recipes to try when you have a few extra minutes.

Breakfast Burritos
The Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich
Fruity Multigrain Waffles
Banana-Walnut Pancakes
Two-Bite Frittatas

🥞 TIP: So many things can be made in advance to make breakfasts heartier and less hectic. Muffins and hand-held egg bites can be made and refrigerated for the week, and waffles and pancakes can be made and frozen ahead of time (you just pop them in the toaster like you would an Eggo!). You can even make and freeze burritos in parchment paper if you leave out the egg—just serve with a scrambled egg on the side.

THE QUESTION BOX

How Do I Choose the Right Pet for My Kids?

Adding an animal to your family can be a wonderful way to teach children about responsibility, patience, unconditional love and the circle of life. But picking the right pet for your family requires some thought. Here are some of the factors you should consider:

  • Does the family schedule allow someone to be home or come home during the day?

  • Do you live in an apartment or a house? Do you have a backyard and is it fenced in?

  • How much can you afford to spend taking care of your pet each month?

  • Who will take care of your pet if you’re away?

  • Does anyone in your family have allergies?

  • How many years are you willing to give to a pet?

  • Have you ever owned an animal before?

  • Can your children be counted on to walk, feed and maintain a pet?
